The MA TESOL Program at the University of Alabama

The MA TESOL program at the University of Alabama prepares students to succeed in a variety of roles and contexts through its comprehensive curriculum and the many valuable experiences we make possible. While the curriculum provides you the necessary skills and knowledge in areas such as Second Language Acquisition, TESOL Methods, and Second Language Writing, opportunities beyond the classroom in the Writing Center, the English Language Institute, and the First Year Writing Program allow you put your knowledge into practice. The program prepares graduates to pursue a range of academic and professional careers. In recent years, our graduates have continued to doctoral programs in Applied Linguistics, Education, Educational Research, Linguistics, and Rhetoric and Composition. Additionally, graduates now teach and serve as coordinators in schools, language institutes, and universities in the US and around the world and have pursued a variety of professional opportunities in areas such as educational technology, refugee and immigrant services, and adult education. All students in our program, both domestic and international, receive an assistantship that includes a full tuition waiver, a $17,100 per year stipend, and health insurance.
